
Aurora police officers are searching for a driver who fled the scene of the fatal crash that shut down the intersection at South Havana Street and East Iliff Avenue on Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Iliff Avenue and South Havana Street around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a .
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 28-year-old man who had died in the crash, police said. The man will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, a 2000 Honda Accord was driving south on Havana when it was struck in the driver’s side door by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, the news release stated.
Investigators suspect the Hyundai ran a red light immediately before the crash, the release stated Sunday.
The driver of the Hyundai left the scene and has not been identified or located, according to the news release.
