The 22-year-old accused of fatally shooting a man in a Commerce City quadplex was squatting in the unrenovated unit when the shooting occurred, according to an arrest affidavit.
Finn Clark Hoover is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old Alfredo Oscar Nunez on Nov. 30.
Hoover is also charged with vehicular eluding.
According to an arrest affidavit, Hoover was part of a group of people renovating the quadplex in the 7300 block of Oneida Drive and was staying in one of the unrenovated units with his girlfriend.
A witness said people in the apartment were sleeping when the shooting happened.
The witness told police they heard a gunshot and afterward, Hoover walked toward them and told them Nunez was a “snitch,” according to an arrest affidavit. Everyone staying inside the apartment fled after the shooting.
Nunez’s body was found by a neighbor who was also renovating the units, according to the arrest affidavit.
A Thornton police officer attempted to stop Hoover on Dec. 5 after seeing his car parked at a 7-Eleven. Hoover fled the area, crashed into a U-Haul truck, and then continued to flee, according to police.
Hoover turned himself in to Commerce City police on Dec. 27. He is in custody on a $1 million cash bail and is set to appear in court on Jan. 26.
