One lane of westbound C-470 is closed in Lone Tree after a three-vehicle crash sent one person to a hospital with serious injuries.

Hazardous materials investigators were also looking into a “radiological device” that fell out of one of the vehicles, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. It was determined to be a Troxler nuclear density gauge used by contractors, engineers and highway departments to identify density of materials and surfaces.

The device was intact and no leak occurred, according to the fire department.

The crash happened between Yosemite Street and Quebec Street, according to the fire department.

Initially, three westbound lanes were closed, so officials advised drivers to expect traffic delays.

Lone Tree police and the Colorado State Patrol are at the scene, according to the fire department.
