Man shot by Adams County sheriff’s deputy following 911 calls

Editor’s note: 17th Judicial District Attorney Brian Mason has determined that Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy Lane Paintin, who shot the man — identified in his decision letter as Francisco Cruz, will not face charges in the shooting.

A man was shot by a sheriff’s deputy Sunday afternoon after the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about a shooting and disturbance, .

The shooting occurred on the 300 block of West 80th Avenue. The man was transported to the hospital following an “officer-involved shooting with one of our deputies,” the sheriff’s office said.

According to the posts, the sheriff’s office received 911 calls at 4:50 p.m. When the deputies arrived, “there was a shooting with one of the involved parties of the initial 911 call.”

The man’s condition is unknown as of 7:30 p.m.
