Eastbound Interstate 76 and U.S. 34 reopened in northeastern Colorado on Thursday afternoon after hourslong closures because of safety concerns.
U.S. 34 was closed in both directions starting at noon from Brush to the Nebraska state line and reopened at around 4 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Multiple vehicles slid off the road near the Washington and Yuma county line,
reopened at approximately 3 p.m. after safety closure for multiple crashes and semitrucks blocking the road between U.S. 6 in Sterling to the Nebraska state line east of Julesburg.
Heavy snow fell in northeastern Colorado on Thursday and is in effect through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulation will range from 4 inches to 10 inches or more in some areas.
Snow will continue east of Sterling and Akron through the early afternoon and lighter snow showers was forecast for the Interstate 25 corridor,
