The Northern Colorado baseball program will honor the 1974 College World Series team along with nine seniors graduating this year before the Bears’ final home weekend series against Summit League opponent South Dakota State.

UNC, 8-12-1 in the conference and 9-32-1 overall, hosts the Jackrabbits Friday-Sunday at Jackson Field in Greeley.

Northern Colorado will honor the Saturday on the 50th anniversary of the Bears’ most recent appearance in Omaha, Nebraska, the site of the College World Series. UNC baseball made 10 appearances in the tournament from 1952-74.

Nine current UNC seniors will be recognized Sunday for their contributions to the program.

Both ceremonies begin at 11:40 a.m.

UNC’s weekend games against South Dakota State are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday and noon starts Saturday and Sunday.

South Dakota State (8-10, 16-22) holds a one-half game lead on UNC in the league standings with three weekends to play until the Summit League tournament. The top four teams advance. The Summit League Championship is May 22-25 at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

UNC plays its final six games of the regular season on the road. The Bears play May 10-12 at Oral Roberts and wrap May 16-18 at North Dakota State.
