
A brush fire that burned 1.5 acres in a Castle Pines neighborhood was started by a juvenile, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to the at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and quickly contained the flames, according to the departmentap posts on X. The fire didn’t damage any structures.
Fire marshal and sheriff’s office investigators found the , sheriff’s office officials said in a post on X. Criminal charges in the case are pending.
Update:SMFR and on scene of a brush fire. Fire has been knocked down and not threatening any homes at this time. Helicopter is overhead but has not been used at this time for any water drops.

“This incident serves as an important reminder that fire season is upon us,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We urge all residents to exercise caution and to educate their children about the dangers of fire.”
