Denver police on Tuesday arrested a 14-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a man near 29th and Larimer streets in the city’s River North Arts District on July 10.

The teen was arrested in Casper, Wyoming, on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of , 49, in RiNo, the

Kidd intervened in a disturbance at about 6:40 p.m. on July 10 and was shot by the 14-year-old, according to Denver police. He died at a hospital Friday.

Kidd was a bouncer at Federales, A crowdfunding page for his funeral expenses said he was shot “while defending his coworkers and workplace.”

“Todd is the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket,”

Police identified the teen as a suspect through surveillance video and information from witnesses, department officials said Wednesday.

Updated 11:30 a.m. July 30, 2024: This story has been updated to remove the name of the 14-year-old boy now that he has been arrested and is being prosecuted as a juvenile. The Denver Post generally does not identify juveniles accused of crimes but did so in this case because police were seeking the public’s assistance in finding the suspect.
