A Denver man faces murder charges in the fatal shooting of his roommate, according to court records.

Tyler Nelson, 30, was arrested last week and charged Monday morning with first-degree murder after deliberation, according to court records. He is being held in the Downtown Denver Detention Center on a $1 million bond.

said Nelson called 911 around 1:02 a.m. last Tuesday to report a shooting at his apartment in the 600 block of South Dayton Street.

When officers arrived in the Windsor neighborhood, they found a woman who lived with Nelson suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The woman — who has not been publicly identified by police — died from her injuries before paramedics could take her to the hospital.

Officials have still not specified the nature of the pair’s relationship.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity and cause and manner of death at a later date.
