Denver officers are investigating an early-morning Wednesday shooting in the city’s Montbello neighborhood that left one man dead as a homicide, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4300 block of North Peoria Street — near Interstate 70 — early Wednesday morning, according to a from the Denver Police Department.

Paramedics took one man — later identified as 27-year-old James King by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner — to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said in a .

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, but police have not identified a suspect yet.
