Man arrested for attempted murder after shooting behind Denver’s Coors Field, police say

The shooting happened near the intersection of 22nd and Market streets in Denver, police said

A 30-year-old man was arrested on investigation of attempted murder in a Wednesday night shooting behind Denver’s Coors Field, police said Thursday.

Dennis Armstrong is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, felony menacing and illegal discharge of a firearm, .

Multiple residents in the area in the 2100 block of Market Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by police sirens.

The shooting happened near the intersection of 22nd and Market streets in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, just one block behind the downtown baseball stadium, in a 10:01 p.m. Wednesday statement.

Paramedics took one man to the hospital, who was shot in the hand and is expected to live, police said.

Denver officers found and arrested Armstrong after he fled from the scene of the shooting Wednesday night and reportedly threatened another person.

The events that led up to the shooting remain under investigation, police said.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine official charges.
