Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash on I-70 near Elbert

A man was killed Monday in a hit-and-run crash while walking in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Elbert, state patrol officials said.

Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to the fatal crash at milepost 349 around 1:14 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the department.

When they arrived, they found the dead pedestrian but any other cars or people involved had fled the scene, the release stated. Investigators believe the man was walking on the interstate when he was hit.
