599 flights canceled, delayed at DIA Thursday as more snow hits Denver

NWS forecasts more blowing snow and night wind chills as low as minus 5 degrees.

At least 599 flights were canceled or delayed Thursday at as blowing snow buffeted Colorado.

As of 3:45 p.m., 536 flights at DIA had been delayed and 63 were canceled, according to data from the flight tracking company .

Southwest had the most flight cancellations with 17, followed by American Airlines with 14 and United and SkyWest (United Express) with 12 each. Frontier had eight, FlightAware data shows.

United had 191 flights delayed. Southwest had 133 delayed and SkyWest had 127.

The has warned of hazardous winter conditions, reporting light snow and wind at the airport after early morning fog and mist cleared. NWS forecasters said patchy snow and blowing snow is possible through Thursday with overnight wind chills as low as minus 5 degrees.

DIA snow teams were clearing runways and plowing roads. “Passengers may have to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes on the plane while the aircraft de-ices before takeoff,” airport officials said in an email advising travelers to be inside the airport at least two hours before their scheduled boarding times.
