Two people were arrested Saturday night on suspicion of murder in a fatal Friday shooting at an Aurora apartment complex, police said.

Laneidra Williams-Whitehead, 45, and her son, 24-year-old Jamir Williams, were arrested on investigation of first-degree murder and booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center, according to a news release from the police department.

Police said Williams-Whitehead was in a relationship with the victim, who the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified on Monday as 37-year-old Roosevelt Williams.

The two had been involved in a domestic dispute earlier Friday evening, according to Aurora investigators. Williams-Whitehead’s son, Jamir, arrived at the apartment later that night, confronted Roosevelt Williams about the fight and shot him, according to the police department’s preliminary investigation.

Roosevelt Williams was discovered by his downstairs neighbor. Police said the neighbor heard noises from the upstairs apartment just after 10:15 p.m. Friday and decided to investigate.

Paramedics took Roosevelt Williams to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

The apartment complex is in the 17100 block of East Adriatic Drive, east of Horseshoe Park.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or .
