A Denver Police Department officer was arrested on suspicion of assault related to domestic violence,
Troy Martin Smith, 50, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in Brighton on Friday, the department said in a news release.
Smith was hired in 2007 and most recently worked at the departmentap . He was reassigned to a non-patrol position while his case goes through the court system.
The Denver Police Department will start an administrative review of the incident after the criminal case concludes.
Smith was released from jail on a $2,500 , according to court records. His next court date was not available Tuesday.
