Aurora middle school student seriously injured in stabbing, police say

An student was seriously injured and another was arrested after an argument escalated into a stabbing Wednesday afternoon.

The two girls were outside on school grounds when they began arguing, the in a post on social media. As the argument escalated, one of the girls stabbed the other.

The victim was taken to the hospital and the other girl was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, police officials said.

officials confirmed there was an “altercation” between two students on Wednesday and said both students are safe. The charter school was put on a secure status at 1:35 p.m.

“We understand this incident can raise concerns, and we want to reassure families and our communities that we are taking all necessary steps to maintain a safe and secure environment,” district officials said in a statement.

Aurora Public Schools safety officers and administrative staff will be on campus for the rest of the week as an added safety measure, according to DSST Public Schools. The 16-school charter network contracts with Aurora and Denver Public Schools for services.
