Man arrested on suspicion of murder in shooting near Denver’s Coors Field

A 34-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of murder after a weekend shooting near Coors Field left one person dead, police said.

Deonte Reshod Minyard was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the shooting, which happened late Saturday night in the 2200 block of Blake Street, according to a from the Denver Police Department.

Police believe several people got into a verbal fight just before midnight Saturday near the intersection of Blake and 22nd Street, according to the release. That fight escalated into the fatal shooting.

Paramedics took Claivon Duncan, the 23-year-old man who was shot, to the hospital, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. He died from his injuries at 12:18 a.m. Sunday, coroner officials said, ruling his death a homicide.

Minyard is being held in Denver’s Downtown Detention Center and no bond has been set, according to court records.

He was out on bail in a separate assault case in Denver at the time of the shooting, according to court records. He posted that bond on April 24.
