
Temperatures across metro Denver and the Interstate 25 corridor could reach triple digits on Thursday as hot, dry weather is expected to raise thermometers to 100 degrees, according to the
Forecasters issued a heat advisory for the Front Range from Fort Collins to Pueblo starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, with a section of Douglas County including Castle Rock exempt from the alert.
Communities that could reach 100 degrees include Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Littleton, Arvada, Parker, Highlands Ranch, Golden, Boulder, Longmont, Loveland, Fort Collins, Hereford and Nunn.
Farther south, a heat advisory for temperatures up to 104 degrees is active for Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Canon City, Penrose and Black Forest on Thursday and Friday.
People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors, forecasters said.
The heat could tie or break r, according to the National Weather Service. Denver’s previous record for Aug. 7 was 99 degrees set in 1980.
