Hundreds of flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport on Monday were delayed amid afternoon thunderstorms.

The ground delay is scheduled through at least 8 p.m. Monday, with the longest delays expected after 4 p.m., FAA officials said. Flights were being delayed by an average of 54 minutes at 3 p.m.
As of 7 p.m., 657 flights had been delayed at DIA and 25 had been canceled, according to flight tracking data from .
Southwest delayed 209 flights on Monday, followed by 212 from United, 151 from SkyWest, 19 from American Airlines and 31 from Frontier. Thirteen additional airlines delayed between one and six flights.
Air Canada canceled 12 flights at DIA on Monday, 100% of its Denver schedule. It’s unclear if those cancellations are linked to the thunderstorms or the ongoing flight attendant strikes.
The remaining flight cancellations include four United flights, two Frontier flights and one American Airlines flight, according to FlightAware.
