One person died and two were injured last week in a five-car crash on southbound Interstate 25. Now, Denver investigators are searching for two hit-and-run drivers involved in the fatal collision.
Denver officers responded to reports of a crash on southbound I-25 near West Eighth Avenue just before 10:15 p.m. last Tuesday.
That crash, which shut down the soundbound highway for roughly three hours, killed a motorcyclist, injured the motorcyclist’s passenger and injured another motorist.
An unknown motorist struck the back of another car and pushed it into a stalled vehicle on the highway, . A motorcycle and a fifth vehicle then crashed into the back of the three-car collision.
The motorcycle driver and passenger were both thrown from the bike, police said.
Police said the driver died at the scene of the crash, and the passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. An update on the passenger’s condition was not available Monday.
The driver of the car hit by the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Two drivers fled the scene of the crash — one in a white pickup truck and the other in a blue sedan, police said. The truck’s front end and bumper may be damaged.
Investigators are trying to locate both cars and identify both drivers.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run drivers or the crash is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
