A man pleaded guilty Friday to manslaughter in a fatal domestic violence shooting from last year as part of a plea deal, according to court records.

The deal — in which 40-year-old Charles Dorsey pleaded guilty to manslaughter and second-degree assault, both felonies — dropped six additional felony charges from his case, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted robbery and kidnapping, court records show.

Dorsey was in a relationship with 29-year-old Maria Pangelinan when he shot her in February 2024, police said. Pangelinan was found outside an apartment building in the 1400 block of North Xenia Street and taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries, .

Dorsey was arrested on Feb. 2, 2024, and was set to begin his jury trial this week, court records show. He will next appear in court on Oct. 3 for sentencing.
