A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in Aurora after crashing into a car during a race on 38th Avenue, police said.
Two motorcycles were racing on eastbound 38th Avenue about 10 p.m. Wednesday when one crashed into a Kia Seltos SUV making a legal U-turn in the 19500 block, according to a news release from Aurora police.
The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and died from his injuries before police arrived, the release stated.
The second motorcyclist narrowly missed the collision, police said. That driver, who has not been identified, briefly returned to the scene before speeding away.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
The motorcyclist killed in the crash will be identified by the Adams County coroner’s office.
No additional information about the crash was available Thursday, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
