A woman crossing the street in southeast Aurora died after being hit by a truck Sunday afternoon, police said.

Aurora officers responded to the crash at South Oak Hill Way and East Smoky Hill Road just after 1 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the police department.

The woman was in a crosswalk when the truck, which was turning left from Oak Hill onto Smoky Hill, hit her, police said in the release. Paramedics took her to a hospital, where she died.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office will release the woman’s identity and cause of death.

Police said the driver, whose identity has not been released, stayed at the scene after the crash and was cooperating with investigators.

Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor, police said.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
