Man found fatally shot in south Westminster park, police say

A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the on Saturday morning, according to the Westminster Police Department.

Westminster police responded to a request for a welfare check for a man lying face-down in the parking lot near West 76th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at 7 a.m., officials said in a news release.

Once officers found the man, who appeared to be in his late 20s, he was already dead and had multiple gunshot wounds.

Neighbors told police they heard multiple gunshots around 2 a.m. and saw a dark-colored, newer-model sedan leaving the park, but did not call 911.

The shooting appears to be an isolated incident and police do not believe there is an immediate danger to the public, agency officials said Saturday afternoon.

The victim’s name will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators are seeking the community’s help with the case, including reviewing video cameras for any footage between 1:30 and 3 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information can contact the departmentap non-emergency line at 303-658-4360.
