A blown semitrailer tire spilled hundreds of beers and dozens of kegs across a state highway in Wheat Ridge late Wednesday night, and sent the driver to the hospital, police said.

Wheat Ridge police officers responded to the crash on the Colorado 58 flyover to eastbound Interstate 70 at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, .

The semitrailer’s tire blew on the ramp, causing the vehicle to tip and spill its load of beer across the road, police said.

Paramedics took the semitrailer driver to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to the department.

Colorado 58 was closed for five hours overnight as crews worked to clear crash debris and cans from the highway, police said. As of 8 a.m. Thursday, the roadway had fully reopened.
