Colorado State Patrol is asking for the public’s help to learn more information about a who was driving south on Interstate 25 northeast of Longmont early Monday morning.

The man, who was driving a red Ford F350 pickup truck, was pronounced dead on the scene after his truck crashed with a work van in a construction zone and rolled over.

Around 5:50 a.m., the truck was traveling behind a white work van in the left lane of southbound I-25, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release. The van signaled and began moving into the right lane, and at the same time, the truck attempted to pass the van on the right. The truck drove on the shoulder of the road, and as it merged back into the right lane, the front corner of the van clipped the rear of the truck.

The truck spun out of control, drove into a concrete barrier and rolled over, the release said. The work van stopped on the west shoulder, and that driver did not report any injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or any driving behavior by either vehicle before the crash to call Colorado State Patrol Denver Dispatch Center at 303-239-4501. The agency is also asking drivers to share any dash camera footage that may have captured either vehicle before or during the crash.

A section of the interstate near Mead was closed for more than four hours Monday after the early morning crash.
