A Spanish tapas restaurant that has found a lot of fans since it opened on Larimer Street in 2018, said Tuesday that it is planning a second location in the Denver Tech Center for 2027.

Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar, 2900 Larimer St., serves up dishes like patatas bravo, jamon serrano, whipped sheep’s cheese, croquetas and paella, and boasts a wine list with dozens of bottles (not to mention sherry and sangria).

But it’s also known for its fun atmosphere and upscale service, something The Denver Post highlighted in 2023.

The new restaurant will be in the On The Square retail development at 8101 E. Belleview Ave., near South Ulster Street. It will be roughly 4,000 square feet in size, with a 1,000-square-foot enclosed, four-season patio and a second outdoor patio.

Connecticut-founded Barcelona Wine Bar has 24 locations in 12 states, according to its website. The company also owns Corsica Wine Bar, a French- and Italian-themed restaurant at 2801 Walnut St.
