A local food truck is getting an upgrade from the parking lot.
Porkys Chicken, which has been slinging $20 whole birds and $34 full racks of ribs for the past several years, will soon get a brick-and-mortar home at 401 N. Federal Blvd. in Denver, city filings show. Porkys currently cooks right outside the building, which used to be home to a window repair shop.
The 1,800-square-foot spot is described as “grab and go” but there does appear to be space for seating. Porkys told the city the build-out will cost $87,000.
Its menu is also getting an expansion too.
Alongside the barbecue Porkys has become known for, itap adding tacos, tortas and quesadillas to its offerings. Burgers and steak plates with fries will also be available, filings show.
Porkys describes itself as a “family-owned Denver favorite known for juicy rotisserie chicken, smoky ribs, generous portions, and homemade sides” like rice, potatoes and coleslaw. The business also does catering, according to its website.
Porkys owner Sendy Mata declined to comment for this article.
