A climber was injured after they fell about 40 feet from a route on the First Flatiron outside of Boulder on Friday afternoon.
About 12:46 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report that a climber had fallen near the Flatirons, according to Vinnie Montez, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. The climber had been climbing with ropes on the Spy Rock route when the rope slipped from the belayer’s hands, Montez said.
First responders with the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group worked with Sheriff’s Office personnel to rescue the climber, who was then taken to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries, Montez said.
Montez did not have information about the climber’s age or gender.
