Colorado sports fans now have the chance to own a piece of Broncos history, as a Blue River Valley equestrian estate tied to the team’s beloved mascot hits the market.
, a more than 250-acre property near Silverthorne, long owned by philanthropic power couple Sharon Magness Blake and Ernie Blake, has been listed for $24.5 million.
The estate is best known as one of the homes of Thunder, the iconic Arabian horses that have galloped down the sidelines after every Denver Broncos home touchdown.
While Thunder 1 and 2 both spent time on the ranch, Thunder 3 lived there for five years and was the horse that generally spent the most time on Triple Creek Ranch, said Cody Lujan, partner with Colorado-based real estate company , which listed the estate for sale.
Magness Blake, widow of cable pioneer Bob Magness, is a longtime philanthropist, businesswoman, and the National Western Stock Show’s 46th Citizen of the West. She has been married to retired attorney and former Breckenridge mayor Ernie Blake since 2004.
The property consists of two lodges, Thunder and Elk, each offering six bedrooms, six bathrooms, chef-equipped kitchens, wood-burning fireplaces, and modern mountain-inspired interiors. Thunder Lodge spans 7,248 square feet, while Elk Lodge measures 6,278 square feet.
Both were built from refurbished logs reclaimed from old cabins in eastern Colorado and recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation. Overlooking three trout ponds, open meadows and surrounding mountain views, the lodges offer frequent wildlife sightings and are conveniently located within walking distance of one another.
Triple Creek Ranch gets its name from the three tributary creeks that meet within the property to form the head of Rock Creek. Well-suited to accommodate corporate retreats and other large gatherings, the property is also currently operated as a high-end through Cuvée.
The ranch features extensive equestrian amenities, including a 12,800-square-foot enclosed and heated riding arena, a 10-stall horse barn with automatic drinkers, and miles of riding trails throughout the property. Thunder Lodge includes two private horse stalls equipped with turnouts and automatic drinkers.
Additional ranch infrastructure includes a three-bedroom, two-bath ranch manager residence, a 10-bay equipment garage, a barn, a children’s play cabin, and several outbuildings. A large sprinkler irrigation system serves key portions of the property, while roughly 13 acres of hay meadow are irrigated through flood irrigation.
