Four men are facing criminal charges, including reckless endangerment, after gunfire cleared a popular swimming beach at Cherry Creek State Park on Sunday afternoon.
Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies and Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at the park’s beach at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
They initially detained six people, including one juvenile, said Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Diana Cooley.
No one reported any injuries, and the circumstances leading up to the incident aren’t yet clear. Authorities closed the beach for investigation Sunday, but reopened it later that day.
The men range in age from 18 to 44 and, in addition to reckless endangerment, were cited for charges that include menacing, prohibited use of weapons, unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon, distribution and possession of controlled substances, and theft.
