A newly renovated Nepali restaurant in Denver’s City Park West neighborhood was significantly damaged after a fire started outside the business on Wednesday, restaurant officials said.
Denver Fire Department crews responded to a , 1320 E. 17th Ave., and made “quick work” of putting out the flames, agency officials said on social media.
No one was injured in the fire, which fire officials said began outside before extending inside. In an email, restaurant co-owner Suman KC said the fire caused major damage to the kitchen and roof.
The restaurant is closed with no estimated reopening, he said.
The fire also damaged the back patio of the neighboring , closing the restaurant for the day. Denver fire officials gave Hamburger Mary’s the go-ahead to reopen Thursday, the restaurant said on Facebook.
Sherpa Basecamp relaunched under its new name in June as a venture by KC and co-owner Prakash Sitaula to focus more on Nepali and Indian food. It was previously Curry and Grill 2.
