A semitruck driver hit a pedestrian on Interstate 25 near Loveland Friday morning after reports of a person running into traffic earlier in the day.
A 66-year-old man from Berthoud was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Colorado State Patrol. The driver of the truck was not injured. He was not taken into custody or immediately charged with any crimes or cited. The news release did not identify either man.
At about 8:45 a.m., CSP was told that a pedestrian was running into traffic on southbound I-25 near U.S. 34, causing traffic to swerve. The crash happened soon after, according to CSP.
CSP is investigating. The agency expects the southbound I-25 lanes will be closed for , though the express lane will be open to allow traffic to pass through.
