Kids’ Ski Passport
Colorado’s ski slopes may be pricey for many, but kiddos can get a huge deal. Colorado Ski Country USA’s popular Kids’ Ski Passport is again available for the 2026-27 ski season to introduce the state’s youngsters to skiing and snowboarding with low-cost lift access at 19 Colorado ski areas, including Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, Snowmass, Winter Park and more. The passport is good for four days of skiing at each of the resorts — $77 for Kindergarten to Grade 2 and $82 for Grades 3 to 6. Do the math and kids could spend 76 days on the slopes for less than $1 per day. Weekend skiing is allowed, save for a few holiday restrictions. The passport also includes two free Junior daily rental packages from Christy Sports. The sale ends Jan. 31, 2027.
Torchy’s Tacos’ Colorado Celebration
Torchy’s Tacos is celebrating 10 years in Colorado (and 20 years in business) with a birthday patio party at two of its Denver locations. Attendees will have the chance to win free queso for a year and enjoy live music, lawn games, family-friendly activities and birthday giveaways — all while celebrating with lots of tacos, queso and margaritas. The 10-year celebration takes place at Torchy’s Tacos Lowry (63 N. Quebec St.) in Denver and Torchy’s Tacos Arapahoe (8505 E. Dress like a million dollars, but on a budget. Dress for Success Denver is holding a one-day-only Summer Pop-Up Shop on Aug. 1. Donated items from local retailers are discounted (up to 75% off) and range in price from $2 to $50. Parker Honey Festival
Oh, honey! This free event has all of Parker and honey lovers abuzz. Families can fly over to O’Brien Park (10795 Victorian Dr.) to enjoy the Parker Honey Festival on Aug. 2. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., learn about the honeybee, including bee-friendly plants and how honeybees make honey. Attendees can see hives up close, sample different kinds of honey, make a craft, try on a beekeeper’s suit and pick up lots of honey-focused items (including many health and beauty products). In addition, there will be a Kids’ Hive for little bee enthusiasts, music performances and artistic displays.
Loveland’s Sculpture in the Park
Loveland is a true arts lover’s paradise the second weekend in August. Sculpture in the Park, the largest outdoor juried sculpture show in the U.S., returns Aug. 7 to 9. Considered a mecca of international talent, the annual show expands Loveland’s Benson Sculpture Garden with more than 2,000 sculptures created by 160 award-winning artists from around the globe. The public show and sale is Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are just $10 each day, while kids 14 and under get in for free. The same weekend, Art in the Park happens across the street in North Lake Park on Aug. 8 and 9. Admission is free and includes nearly 250 vendors selling art in nearly every medium ranging from canvas to metals.
Lafayette Peach Festival
The annual Lafayette Peach Festival turns South Public Road, the town’s main street, into one peachy carnival on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Find piles of peaches – 30,000 pounds trucked in from Palisade orchards — for purchase at multiple locations. Plus, satisfy your sweet tooth with more than 800 fresh peach pies and cobblers for sale, including individual servings. While enjoying your peachy treats, peruse 150 food vendors, crafters, antique dealers and artists from the Front Range and Western States. L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Giveaway
Aloha, SPAM fans! The largest Hawaii-based restaurant chain, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, is celebrating National SPAM Musubi Day with a big giveaway. What’s SPAM Musubi? Shakespeare in the Wild
Go wild with words! Shakespeare in the Wild is back this summer with “The Comedy of Errors” on select days in August. This is Shakespeare’s fastest, silliest, most gleefully chaotic play about two sets of separated twins, one very confused town, and the kind of mistaken-identity mayhem that hasn’t aged a day in 400 years. Performances are free and held outdoors at deKoevend Park (6315 S University Blvd.) in Centennial. The schedule of shows includes the following dates: Aug. 14 to 16; Aug. 20 to 23; and Aug. 27 to 30. Performances start at 7 p.m. Audiences are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic for a “dinner and a show.” Chairs are welcome, if necessary. No reservations are required. Northglenn Shredding Event
Time to gather up your unwanted documents before the colder weather settles in. The Northglenn Police Department is hosting a free document shredding event on Aug. 22 at Northglenn Marketplace – from 8 a.m. to noon. The community event is open to all regardless of zip code. Each vehicle is limited to three garbage bags or paper boxes. Electronics will not be accepted. Also prohibited are binders, magazines, trash and three-ring binders. Donations will be greatly appreciated and benefit Hero’s Puppy for Life. Boulder Tulip Giveaway
The City of Boulder is giving away free tulip bulbs – starting Aug. 19. Bulbs are available at various downtown Boulder businesses on a first-come, first-served basis. Businesses will have a poster in their window to indicate their participation. There are more than 5,500 bulbs in total to be given away, with about 15 bulbs per bag. Each family is limited to one bag. Where do the bulbs come from? Parks and Recreation staff changes the variety and color of the tulips planted on the Pearl Street Mall every year to provide a unique and impressive display each spring. Loveland Corn Roast Festival
Nothing corny about loving one of Colorado’s favorite crops – corn. Celebrate everything corny at the 130th Loveland Corn Roast Festival on Aug. 21 and 22 at Fairgrounds Park (700 S. Railroad Ave.) Festivities for the event start Friday at 5 p.m. with live entertainment, a corn shucking contest, roasted corn for sale and more. Then, the fun gets started on Saturday with the Corn Roast Parade at 9:30 a.m. Attendees will also enjoy a beer garden, Kids Zone, vendor area, cornhole tournament, food trucks, and more.
Affordable Arts Festival
The annual Affordable Arts Festival is unlike any arts fest you have attended – every art piece is priced at $150 or less. It takes place outdoors on Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Arapahoe Community College (5900 S. Santa Fe Dr.) in Littleton. This is the Black Friday of art sales with more than 160 artists from across the nation selling their works in a variety of mediums at discounted prices. While gates open at 9 a.m., hard-core bargain hunters line up much earlier, so be prepared for crowds. Admission is $12 online or at the gate — with proceeds going to the Arapahoe Community College scholarship program. Children 12 and under get in for free.
