Jake McCarthy earned kudos after his magical week for the Rockies.
Colorado’s 29-year-old outfielder was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday after slashing .519/.500/.852 with three doubles, two home runs, five runs batted in and three stolen bases in six games.
His crowning achievement for the week was a four-hit performance — with two home runs — in Saturday’s 8-6 win over the Cardinals. On the season, he’s hitting a team-leading .306 batting average with 13 home runs, 67 RBIs and a Rockies-best 20 stolen bases. He’s currently on an eight-game hitting streak, dating back to Aug. 1.
He was acquired in January from the Diamondbacks for minor-league pitcher Josh Grosz. McCarthy ranks in the top 10 in the National League in batting average (fourth), doubles (10th) and stolen bases (fifth).
He is the first Rockies player to win the award since catcher Hunter Goodman in September 2025.
Red Sox outfielder Wilmer Abreu was selected as the American League Player of the Week.
