Hall & Evans is moving its downtown headquarters three blocks west and 39 stories higher.
The regional law firm specializing in tort and commercial litigation leased 44,000 square feet on the 41st and 42nd floors at 1801 California St., according to public records. It was the third largest downtown office lease inked in the second quarter of 2026, per brokerage CBRE.
Hall & Evans is currently located on the third floor of 1001 17th St. The firm declined to comment on the move.
“Due to our firm’s policy, we are unable to comment on internal business operations or lease agreements,” Whitney Kerr, a spokeswoman for the practice, said via email.
Public records show Hall & Evans is spending $2.9 million on the buildout for its offices in Denver’s second-tallest building. CBRE, which is marketing the building, says the property is 62% occupied.
The property that Hall & Evans is leaving, 1001 17th St., is 75% leased, according to the quarterly earnings report for its publicly-traded landlord, Franklin Street Properties.
Hall & Evans was founded in 1932 and is headquartered in Denver. The firm has 11 offices from Las Vegas to Chicago.
The practice joins other law firms in moving its offices within downtown. Morrison Foerster shed more than half of its square footage in a move from Republic Plaza to 1800 Larimer St. earlier this year. It joins fellow large law firm Ballard Spahr, which moved into the building last year. Steptoe & Johnson also moved closer to Union Station, from Dominion Towers at 600 17th St. to the Tabor Center at 1200 17th St. And Jackson Lewis made a similar leap, leaving behind 950 17th St. for a new office at 1400 Wewatta St.
