Denver police have issued an arrest warrant for Michael T. Ricks, a man in the Douglas County jail accused of having impersonated a police officer in Denver to sexually assault women.

Ricks, 45, is facing two counts of sexual assault, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of impersonating a police officer, patronizing a child prostitute and inducement of a child prostitute, police said.

The case has been sent to the Denver district attorney’s office, said police Detective John White.

Ricks entered a plea agreement March 28 with prosecutors in Douglas County on one count of felony sexual assault and one misdemeanor count of unlawful sexual contact. He is set to be sentenced in June.

He was pretending to be a doctor and assaulted 10 women last year, officials said.

The first victim to report a crime was an 18-year-old high school student who turned to Ricks in March 2004 for chiropractic treatment after being in a car crash.

After a few sessions, Ricks, who referred to himself as “Dr. Mike,” began to use objects to sexually assault her, saying it was part of the treatment, according to an affidavit.

While officials investigated the case, Ricks posted $100,000 bond and got out of the Douglas County jail on Oct. 29.

While Ricks was out, Denver police say, he began impersonating an officer in the city and sexually assaulted women under threat of arrest.

Based on information from Denver police, Douglas County officials revoked Ricks’ bond and ordered him back into custody.

Ricks, a college drama major who recently worked as a manager at an Arby’s restaurant, remained in the Douglas County jail on Friday.

Anyone with information about Ricks or any incident involving him is asked to call Denver police at 720-913-2000.
