Las Vegas – Colorado companies and developers with projects in the state continue to troll the International Council of Shopping Centers convention to find new sites and woo tenants.
Here’s what they’re up to:
1-2-3 Fit
Former Quiznos executive Brooksy Smith used the conference as an opportunity to spread the word about 1-2-3 Fit, a fitness concept he’s launching with Quiznos chief executive Rick Schaden and health club industry leader Ray Wilson.
The franchised fitness center concept is built around a 30-minute workout system similar to Curves’. Earlier this year, 1-2-3 Fit acquired 11 Healthy Exercise locations in California, Washington, Missouri and Florida, which are being converted into 1-2-3 Fitness locations.
The company has named another former Quiznos exec, Dan Demolli, as its Colorado area director. Demolli has awarded four franchises, and the first Colorado locations are expected to open this fall.
Westcor
The company redeveloping Boulder’s former Crossroads Mall on Tuesday announced eight new tenants.
Sigrid Olsen, Lucy, Lucky Brand, White House/Black Market, Coldwater Creek, Clarks England, Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works have signed on as tenants in the project, called Twenty Ninth Street. The Sigrid Olsen store, which sells women’s apparel, will be the first in Colorado.
The company aims to announce three more waves of tenants, in the men’s apparel, home furnishings and entertainment categories, said Bob Williams, senior vice president of leasing for Westcor.
The first tenant, U.S. Bank, will open by the end of the year, and Home Depot is expected to open in spring 2006. The remaining retailers are expected to open in October 2006.
Wiens Capital Management
Developer Tim Wiens, who recently announced plans to build a 6,000-seat events center in his Arista development in Broomfield, outlined plans for retail on the site.
Wiens is developing 200 acres along U.S. 36 between West 108th and 120th avenues along with Los Angeles-based Lowe Enterprises. The retail component of the project will be a mix of regional big-box stores, grocery-anchored community retail and a Main Street-style specialty retail area for a total of 500,000 to 700,000 square feet.
The specialty retail portion of the project is expected to include multi-story buildings with either office or retail space on the upper levels.
Continuum Partners
Denver’s Continuum Partners – which is redeveloping Lakewood’s former Villa Italia mall into the Belmar neighborhood of shops, restaurants, offices and homes – is preparing for the coming openings of several new tenants, including Home Restaurant, Lucky Strike Lanes, Emogenes wine and coffee bar, Baker Street Pub & Grill, leather retailer Santa Fe North, Kamala Gifts and Tacone, a fast-casual restaurant.
The district recently marked openings of Cache, Zales and the Metropolitan Museum of Art store.
