Getting your player ready...

Gus’s Place: This is my favorite place for a Dutch lunch and an ice-cold schooner. Located in the heart of Pueblo, Gus’s has been part of my family tradition for generations. Years ago on Saturdays, my grandfather would meet brothers and cousins for a beer and a sandwich. If you look in those same bar booths on any given Saturday, you’ll find my dad and uncles doing the same thing.

San Isabel Lake: It’s my favorite water slide. The lake is a great getaway, especially if you like to camp or fish. I grew up in the area, and it wasn’t until I got older that I found out about one of its best-kept secrets: a natural water slide. After cooling off on the water slide, keep hiking and you’ll find beautiful rock formations, miniature waterfalls and small cliffs perfect for jumping into deep pools of water.

The Great Sand Dunes: The dunes are my favorite place to bury someone alive. As kids, my brothers and I would bury each other with heaps of white sand, leaving only a head and wiggling feet for spectators.

Mercury Cafe: The Mercury Cafe in Denver is my favorite place to dance. Big bands, big dance floor and hanging party lights create the perfect atmosphere for swing dancing.

The state Capitol: This is a favorite place for a love-hate relationship with Colorado politics.
