Campo de Fiori GM Sebastian Grazzini is starting a happy hour at the eatery 5-7 every night – but he’s thinking about swordplay.

Seems that Grazzini, who gets local dames worked up with his Ashton Kutcher locks, is headed to Las Vegas next month for the Taekwon-Do 50th Anniversary Championships. He’ll be competing in taekwondo, aikido and sword fighting.

He has a good shot at winning his green-belt division. Grazzini trains three hours every day with Tiger Kim, a grand master who lives in Denver.

So check out the new happy hour – and tell Sebastian to fight the good fight.

Night at the Opera

The Denver International Film Festival has booked the new Ellie Caulkins Opera House for opening and closing nights of the 2005 fest – Nov. 10 and 19.

I’ve toured the new theater, which opens with a gala celebration Sept. 10. What a spot for a film-fest party! Opening night will include a screening and a party in the opera house. Closing night is wilder, so the party might move to a more casual spot after the flick.

Sail away

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had to cancel his conservative week-long Caribbean cruise due to lack of interest.

No such luck for Big Head Todd & the Monsters. Their Big Caribbean Cruise was such a hit this year that they’re planning Cruise 2 for March 18-25. It’s totally laid back, with a few concerts from the boys along the way. Check it out at BHTMcruise.com.

Loony lectures

Mixed Taste is a lecture series at Belmar in Lakewood featuring two unrelated topics each night, addressed by experts in the fields. Like “Wild Birds and French New Wave Cinema,” “Piano Miniatures and Hearty Shrubs,” “Susan Sontag and Paint by Numbers,” “Meat Sausage and T.S. Eliot,” “Mexican Muralists and Burlesque Theater.”

I love this. The series runs Thursday nights through Sept. 1, go to belmarcolorado.com.
