Western State kicker signs with AFL2
Western State football kicker Travis Snyder has signed a contract to play the rest of the season with the Amarillo Dusters of the Arena2 Football League (AFL2).
Snyder was an All-American in 2003 after his junior season when he led the NCAA Division II in field goals made.
Wyoming golfer honored
University of Wyoming golfer Dan Silva has been named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Silva, originally from Littleton, is only the eighth Cowboy in history to be awarded the academic honor.
Silva, a senior with a 3.813 grade-point average in economics, was recently named to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-District VII team for 2005 as selected by CoSIDA.
Silva recently finished third overall at the Colorado Golf Association State Public Links Championship on June 17-19 at the Indian Peaks Golf Course in Lafayette.
New board for state Sports Hall of Fame
The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame board of directors this week voted Theo Gregory of the El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs as the new chairman, and Dick Dewire of American National Bank was selected to serve as chair-elect.
