Federal prosecutors have charged a former Greeley union chief with embezzling about $8,000, much of which was allegedly spent in Las Vegas.
Ronald A. Bush is the third family member and union official charged in a Department of Labor probe into financial improprieties at the now- disbanded Local 990 of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.
Last month, Bush’s son, Stephen L. Bush, was indicted by a federal grand jury. He is accused of embezzling $22,514.
Ronald Bush’s sister, Barbara Ann Hayes, a bookkeeper with Local 990, pleaded guilty to embezzlement last year.
Ronald Bush was charged Wednesday and waived his right to be indicted by a federal grand jury. He was released on bond.
In its complaint against Ronald Bush, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Denver, the government says he spent thousands of dollars on personal expenses such as airline tickets, hotel rooms and restaurants. Ronald Bush could not be reached for comment Thursday.
