Who: Hannah Mae Archuleta of Denver, Colorado
Where: Under the Gates in Central Park, New York City in February
Out and about: My mother and I spent four days exploring NYC in February. We stayed at the Afinnia 50 Hotel in Manhattan and explored the island by subway and walking on cold and snowy days. We visited Chinatown during their New Year’s celebration, saw Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, shopped at Bloomingdale’s, ate in Little Italy, saw two plays (Little Women and Hairspray) watched the ice skaters in Central Park and at the Rockefeller Center and many other sights. Of course, we walked under the colorful and magnificent Gates by Christo in Central Park. It was so exciting being in NYC at this time even though it was cold.
Travel tip: When traveling to NYC for only a few days, plan to arrive as early as possible to make use of a full day and leave as late as possible to enjoy another full day. We stayed in a central location near 50th and Lexington where we could easily visit most sights in central and lower Manhattan. At this time of year bring along your clothing for cold and wintry days.
