COLDWATER: Arkansas River
The Arkansas River has been enjoying some nice afternoon thunderstorms, cooling things down. The water is clear and offers the best dry fly fishing on the Eastern Slope as summer hatches get into high gear. Golden Stones, Yellow Sallies, Pale Morning Duns, evening caddis and a variety of ants and hoppers are keeping the fish on top.
WARMWATER: Yampa River
The Yampa River is running clear and beginning to produce impressive catches of smallmouth bass, along with a few pike. One hot spot is near the Craig golf course. Smallies of 2 or 3 pounds are hitting a variety of lures but seem to favor Luhr Jensen crayfish imitations.
