The Air Force Academy announced Thursday that its football games this fall against Army and Texas Christian will be televised.

ESPN will carry the Oct. 22, 1 p.m. home game against TCU as one of its regional telecasts. ESPN Classic will carry the Nov. 5 game against Army at 1:30 p.m. from Falcon Stadium.

Eight of Air Force’s 11 games will be televised.

Sports West is carrying the Sept. 17 game against Wyoming and the Nov. 19 game at New Mexico. Sports West or ESPN Regional will carry the Oct. 29 game at BYU. ESPN is televising the Sept. 22 game at Utah and the Sept. 29 game at Colorado State.

Air Force’s season opener against Washington in Seattle will be televised regionally by ABC.

Air Force also announced a change in its 2006 schedule, adding a game Sept. 9 at Tennessee and dropping the Sept. 16 game at Northwestern.

“We thought that playing Tennessee was a great opportunity for our players and our program,” said Brad DeAustin, the academy’s vice athletic director.

In Air Force basketball news, center Nick Welch underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a broken bone in his left foot. Welch suffered the injury July 1 while playing in a pickup basketball game in Dallas.

Welch is expected to recover in time for the first official practice Oct. 15.
