A third victim of serial rapist Brent J. Brents on Wednesday filed notice she intends to sue the city of Aurora for allegedly failing to arrest Brents in a timely manner.

The single woman from Denver, who was attacked in February and isn’t named, filed the claim through her attorney, James Miletich.

The notice alleges Aurora police should have arrested Brents in November after he admitted to detectives that he had inappropriate sexual contact with an 8-year-old Aurora boy. Because of bureaucratic mix-ups, an arrest affidavit wasn’t signed until Jan. 26.

The claim blames Aurora police officer Del Matticks, former Police Chief Ricky Bennett, Aurora City Manager Ron Miller and Deputy City Manager Frank Ragan.

The notice, which doesn’t specify a monetary figure, says the woman suffered physical and mental injuries, emotional distress, loss of income, and loss of enjoyment of life.
