Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers: Check the freezer for frozen ground beef that may be contaminated with bacteria.

The Flanders Provision Co. of Georgia has voluntarily recalled 900,000 pounds of ground beef after several people in a number of states are believed to have gotten sick from eating it.

In Colorado, one person was hospitalized with an illness likely caused by the bacteria.

The ground beef is suspected of containing E. coli 0157:H7, which can cause diarrhea and cramps and can be serious in older adults and young children.

The frozen patties that may have been sold at Colorado Wal-Mart stores – but not at Sam’s Club – are: Flanders Bun Buster 100% Beef Burgers, production code 05053; Flanders Beef Patties, production codes 05052, 05053, 05055, 05060, 05061, 05062, 05066, 05069; Flanders Homestyle Cubed Beef Patties, production code 05055; and Flanders Patty Mix, production code 05060.

The Colorado health department urges anyone who might have bought any of those packages to throw them out or take them back for a refund.
