Boulder – Perhaps what had been holding up ticket sales for the Colorado-Colorado State game Saturday were a few sticky situations at CU.

School officials had been directing fans to its website for tickets. Fans clicking onto the site Tuesday morning, however, were not allowed to buy tickets. Until Tuesday afternoon, the website listed the start date for sales of Saturday’s game as Sunday, Sept. 4. The site was changed later in the day to say no more Internet orders were allowed because of potential long lines at the will call window.

On Tuesday morning, select King Soopers locations experienced trouble with their computer systems, which turned away other customers. Computers were back online later in the day. There also were some problems with fans calling the ticket office and not getting help. A call to CU ticket manager Ruph Gebre-Mariam for a comment was not returned.

At the end of business Tuesday, 1,778 tickets for the game remained available. That does not include club seats, of which there are 300 remaining.

Hughes in 2006?

CSU’s talk about possibly playing the 2006 game with CU at Hughes Stadium instead of in Denver might not be just posturing. The Rams have only five home games next season – four Mountain West opponents and a game against I-AA Weber State. And Wyoming and Air Force are not on the home schedule.

With the addition of a 12th game next season, athletic directors are looking for a minimum of six home games.

CSU athletic director Mark Driscoll describes next year’s CU-CSU game site as “yet to be determined” and hopes to have it resolved soon.

Footnotes

CU freshman cornerback Gardner McKay practiced after the NCAA clearinghouse approved his eligibility. CU coach Gary Barnett said McKay would dress for Saturday’s game, but wasn’t sure if he would play. … Buffs safety Dominique Brooks (ankle) tried to practice but could not go. He’s listed as doubtful for the CSU game.
