A 29-year-old band assistant at Lakewood High School has been arrested on charges that he had inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile female student.
Eric Gadiaza was taken into custody early Thursday morning, said Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis.
Gadiaza is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a pattern.
A Jefferson County Public Schools official received an anonymous tip last month and the information was turned over to police for investigation, said district spokesman Rick Kaufman.
Davis and Kaufman said no further details are being released due to the nature of the charges and the alleged victim’s age.
Gadiaza, who has resigned, was hired by the school district in November 1998 and has worked as a band director’s assistant at Alameda High School, D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School and Lakewood High. He had been at Lakewood since October.
