Rub a dub for grubby Fidos

GinSan Industries of Grand Rapids, Mich., has come up with a way to keep Fido spit-shined.

The DogLovers Wash tub is constructed from brushed, 16-gauge stainless steel and is built with the carwash environment in mind.

Included in the wash package is a nonslip, removable ramp; a 10-position Touchtron, or rotary GinSan meterbox, which includes a countdown display and the option of accepting coins, bills and the cashless ExpressKEY system; and an eye-catching sign package.

A two-speed, warm air dryer and a

stainless-steel soap cabinet are available as add-ons to the package.

Patient updates by telephone

A Louisville company is using voice biometrics to help families stay informed about loved ones in care facilities.

CareTouch Communications has developed a system that allows nursing homes and other care centers to provide updates on patients without violating privacy laws.

Its flagship CareTouch product can automatically call family members with reports on how nursing home residents are doing, healthwise and socially. CareTouch uses voice biometrics to authenticate the person receiving the update, matching it with a voice initially stored in the company’s system.

“We started working on this product two years ago. We had a loved one in a care facility across the country, and we couldn’t find out what was going on with them,” said CareTouch chief executive Craig Lund, who founded the company with chief technology officer Bill McCulloch.

There’s no charge for family members to use the CareTouch service, but the product must be installed at the care facility.

CareTouch is available in two facilities in Fort Collins and one in Loveland.
